Ruth is the National Director for The Girls’ Brigade England & Wales and works closely with the Trustee Board and National Executive Committee, providing Christian strategic direction and policy for the organisation.
Having come to faith as a teenager through the influence of a local GB company in Yorkshire Ruth (Gilson) sensed that God was calling her into Christian leadership - with just a blank canvas of knowledge about how this would be shaped!
She then studied at Birmingham Christian College and followed a varied path of work and lay leadership before joining the staff team at Girls' Brigade.
In 1999 Ruth was appointed Director of GB (England and Wales) and has helped lead the movement through a time of review and re-emergence in evangelistic mission. This re-emergence has led GB to partner with Viz-A-Viz Ministries in establishing the exciting new initiative - Arise - equipping local churches to reach a generation!
Ruth lives in Banbury, she's a reader, a 'West Wing' and 'Lost' groupie and follows the highs and lows of Barnsley FC!
She is on the Council of the Evangelical Alliance UK,
a Director of the Baptist Union event 'Leading Edge',
Chair of the BB/GB youth event 'Firm Foundations'
a Methodist Local Preacher,
a Myers Briggs trainer and is
Really passionate about helping equip 'ordinary church people like me' to step out with confidence to share Jesus!
